Not summer here. Still when the sun dares to shine grilled fish is always a party at my house. Fresh vegetables on the side or boiled potatoes and some greens - broccoli, for instance.

One of my favourite #desserts. I sometimes add sultanas, currants or raisins (I prefer seedless dried grapes, to be honest) and some walnuts to the mix.

Served with a generous spoon of cool whipped cream or a nice serving of vanilla ice cream… on a drizzly cloudy day…

Heaven!

Healthy, delicious and spiced up with a tiny chili pepper - no seeds this time, to better taste the prawns, the cockles and everything else in this..

The rice was just right and so was the soupy sauce.

Speaking of home-made carbonara, here’s how some chefs do it…

I loved the look of Gary Rhodes’ Spaghetti Carbonara, but I have to confess I sometimes improvise.

When I don’t have the time I simply go for some sausages or bacon and sauté them. Add some sliced mushrooms (fresh or out of can… whatever is possible at the time…) and let them incorporate the bacon or sausages juices.

Then add some cream and an egg, mix it all quickly, pour the mix on top of my pasta and add the grated parmigiano.

Sprinkle everything with some aromatic herbs - gluttony is also in the eyes of the food lover…

Mandatory complement: a Douro red or a stupidly cold Vinho Verde (naturally sparkling Minho region white wine)… Both excellent choices from Portugal’s rich wine choices…

This was last Thursday’s dinner after sliced brown bread loaf and rich soft cheese from Seia, Portugal. Some juicy oranges to contrast the carbonara sauce and a nice glass (OK more than one…) of red wine.

Delicious!

Did you know that April 3rd is National Chocolate Mousse Day? Neither did I…until this morning when I was searching the web for chocolate mousse recipes. I know its still January…but I’m counting the days!

Chef Christophe Bony shared his recipe for this #tastydessert. This is a page from his cookbook, Van Gogh’s Table. He calls it Mousse Chocolat au Sabayon. I call it Death by Chocolate. If you’re going to fall off the wagon, then do it in style! Bon Appetit.

Personally I had no idea…but hey! I am making chocolate mousse before that! Death by chocolate sounds great, by the way…

OK, so I am in love with the idea of #recipes on #tastyfood. Problem is, all I see is usually too much of the old saying, a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips…
